I'm not sure what the best way to do it would be, but basically if you weren't one of the first people to play this game you will never get any amount of gp for your minis. I don't know what the solution is, but it is rediculous for the vet players, who probably already have plenty of stuff, to get 100k +e appearing in their inventory for all chars, including storage mules. I'd like to see minis start dropping from chests. I do think that the vet players should get something for their dedication, but I just think this whole birthday present could be revamped so as not to basically penalize people who discovered this game later.

Edit: Please don't make this about me, and turn this thread into something it isn't (QQ, flame, etc.) I'm sure I'm not the only one that feels this way. I'm inquiring what the communities opinion is of this and what the possible suggestion may be.

If they get something else first that can be sold the same argument as the minipets will exist, or if they get something for buying/playing in the first X months that newer chars don't get then all we would hear is people complaining they get this and we don't.

Minis are presents. It's something special to thank they players that have been playing for a long time. Yes it will net them more money but in Anets eyes they are the most loyal players and the first few to get the game started. Just like people idolize the founders of world renown companies or sport teams, Anet is thanking those who have started first and have kept with their characters. They deserve to get the minis first.

Seriously, its pretty blatant. You want a 3rd year mini now, when you haven't had a char for even close to three years, yes? Perhaps I should add to the fixed quote, "Hi, I'm too lazy to make the money myself, so I want Anet to hand it to me on a silver platter (aka a bday present).

If its actually something that should even be considered, which this isn't, it should be in sardelac anyway.

Oh and btw, my ele is my oldest and isn't even 2 years old. I just picked up like 4 1 year bday presents and was just fine with that, even though i got possibly the worst minis of 1st year anyway. Hey, if nothing else, it was 4 free minis to dedicate at my monk's hall.

And further, if you did manage to get a 3rd year mini from Anet's gracious little heart (cough lol cough), with what i've seen, you would complain if it wasn't a green or gold one. GG QQ less?

If you want to get money, you can earn it.

No, actually I have over 2 mil in gold and assets atm. My motivation for this post is purely what I stated. No hidden agenda. And yes I am a new player, which is why I don't like being penalized.

I am sick to death of the complaining about the mini pets. They are not something that Anet has to do, it's something extra they do for the players. If you don't like it, go play something else.

You're NOT being penalized for being a new player. People who have been playing for a long time are being rewarded, there's a huge difference.

You don't want to pay 100k + ectos for a mini? WAIT a month or two until the prices drop. They always do. The only people who are willing to pay that much are the people who just HAVE to be the first to get the new toy. Even Whiptail Devourer minis were worth over 75k at one time.

We have thought of this, but this solution is problematic also. Duplicate minis would be worthless, and then new players would have to wait at least a year to get anything.

QFT. None of my chars has even gotten a second bday present yet. I get my first one in 2 months and the rest about 6-10 months after that

but I agree with this poster, it's a reward and you shouldn't QQ about it. Mini's aren't essential, and there's other ways to make money just as fast (design a weapon the week they were released, play ha and get a ghostly, contests for rare minis, rollerbeetles, and questing for polar bear are some)

Let me try to summarize this. The current minipet system is used to reward players with characters that reached a certain age. You are a player who hasn't been around as long as many other players. Since other players are getting a third year minipet gift, you find it to be unfair for you. Since it is unfair for you, you are suggesting a change.

Let me ask you this question. If this change were to be made, wouldn't it be unfair for players who have actually stayed in the game for so long?

P.S: Shouldn't this thread be in the suggestion section? What's with all these ideas doing around in Riverside anyways?

Like I said, I think the vets should get something, but not just gp appearing in their inventory.

If you don't like my suggestion, fine, I respect that, but arguements like "you aren't being penalize, they're being rewarded" is a glass half empty/half full arguement and is not constructive. Please try to add something to this thread.

It really to late for them to change the system, i've been playing guild wars almost 3yrs and i think the system works, i should know because almost all the minis i've gotten where white, the best i gotten was a mini Koss and Charr and they where worthless.

I knew a complaint thread like this would pop up soon after the Andrew Patrick/Wasabi minipet fiasco because it seems that people here complain about everything and can't stand that others get minipets before they do. It was only a matter of time before latecomers to the game complained that veterans were getting minipets earlier than they were.

The problem is that people completely forget that these are gifts, but instead see them as some sort of entitlement that they can sell for gold.

I agree there's a lot of good games out. If you like action combat Mount & Blade .950 just came out and it's crazy awesome. If you've got a 360 or PS3 there's GTA4 of course. Age of Conan is coming... This is a good year for games, don't waste your time with GW.
